Hello!
My name is Yfke van der Kammen. I am the youth nurse from the GGD West-Brabant, the youth health care organization in Breda. Via this way, I am involved with the International School Breda. I have knowledge about the medical and psychosocial development of children. Sometimes, the teachers have concerns about a student. For example, because the student isn’t feeling well (mentally), has physical problems or shows unusual/ difficult behavior.
These concerns can be discussed, with the parents’ approval, with the youth nurse from the school. I can liaise with the teachers and give advice on these subjects. I can also perform an (extra) examination or have a conversation with the student. When needed, I can have the youth doctor refer the student to the general practitioner, medical specialist, or other care worker.
As parents, you can also come to me with questions, for example, about the vaccination program from the Netherlands, the health care organization for the youth and how it works, questions about raising children and other problems. I will start with bi-weekly consultation mornings at the ISB, at Wednesday mornings from 09.00 until 12.00. You can walk in (I'll be in Ellen Drenth's office, you can ask where this is at the reception) or plan a meeting with me for advice about what I mentioned above.
